Aloe glauca "Namaqualand" or Namaqualand Blue Aloe is a perennial succulent native to South Africa. It has rosettes and a short trunk, and can grow up to 2-3 feet in both height and width. The leaves are about 10 inches long and have a pale white color with faint green lines, slightly curving. While not always present, it produces thick inflorescences with tightly held salmon-colored flowers from late fall to spring, adding to its attractiveness in gardens. This plant thrives in full to mostly sunny areas, does not require much water, and prefers well-drained, lean, gritty soil. Once it has adapted to dryness, it can withstand winter drought. It flowers in spring, fall, and winter, and is a favorite of hummingbirds and beneficial insects.
