Aloe pseudorubroviolacea, native to Saudi Arabia, is a larger, solitary aloe with a decumbent trunk, forming two-foot-wide rosettes of thick, blue-green leaves. Its striking inflorescences, reaching three to four feet in height, bear orange-red flowers from late winter into spring. The rosette of wide, recurved leaves displays a range of colors, including blues, pinks, purples, and greens, often tilted or facing horizontally. While mature plants may lack the violet color of Aloe rubroviolacea, seedlings exhibit a strong violet hue. With stems extending up to 12 feet, this aloe crawls along the ground, with foliage transitioning to pink tones in winter. Flowering occurs from winter to early spring, sometimes even extending into summer in California, featuring tall, multi-branched inflorescences adorned with waxy orange-red flowers, occasionally yellow. Found in high mountains and cliff faces overlooking the Red Sea's coastal plain, this species was first described in 2000. It thrives in full sun and well-drained soil, tolerating pendant growth on steep slopes or level ground. Hardy down to 25°F, it adds stunning beauty to garden landscapes.
