Aloe vacillans

Aloe vacillans

Reference only - not in production

Aloe vacillans, originating from Saudi Arabia and Yemen, withstands Arizona heat akin to Aloe vera. Typically stemless or on short stems, it occasionally produces offsets, forming small groups with sword-shaped leaves in rosettes. While mature leaves lack markings, seedlings display spots, with small sharp brown teeth along the margins. Flowering varies, with some blooming in winter and others in summer or early fall, showcasing yellow or red-orange flowers on sparingly branched, upright inflorescences. Found in southwestern Saudi Arabia and Yemen at elevations of 4300-9800 feet, it absorbs former species A. dhalensis and A. audhalica. Heat tolerant in cultivation, it thrives in gardens with hot, bright sun.
