For cold climates with upcoming sub-32-degree temperatures within five days of your order, we strongly advise adding a heat pack. Orders without a heat pack will not include one.

Agave ellemeetiana 'Satina,' or Ellemeet's Agave, is a medium-sized succulent known for its toothless, broad, waxy green leaves that arch downwards. Originating from Mexico, it forms a stemless rosette up to 2 feet tall and 3 feet wide, with broad, short leaves lacking marginal teeth and a terminal spine, making it safer for gardens frequented by children and pets. Introduced to Europe around 1864 from Veracruz, Mexico, this species is native to cloud forests in Veracruz, Oaxaca, and other humid regions. Named by General George Albano von Jacobi in honor of his Dutch friend, Mr. De Jonge van Ellemeet, it thrives in cool sun or light shade and requires well-drained soil with occasional watering. Unlike many agaves, it benefits from more regular watering and some protection from intense sunlight. Hardy to temperatures around 30-32°F (USDA zones 9b to 11), it is excellent as a foliage accent or specimen plant, suitable for hedging, mass planting, and screening. Its unique structure and year-round interest make it a valuable addition to various garden styles.
