Agave geminiflora - 6in

Agave geminiflora, commonly known as Twin-flowered Agave, is a compact, evergreen succulent native to Nayarit and Jalisco, Mexico. It forms a dense, symmetrical rosette of 100-200 thin, dark green leaves that cascade outward, creating a rounded structure. Unlike many Agaves, its leaves are spineless, making it safer to handle. The species is monocarpic, flowering once in its lifetime, typically after 10-15 years, producing an unbranched flower spike up to 15 feet tall with paired yellow-green flowers that attract pollinators. After flowering, the plant usually dies, though occasional suckers may emerge. It grows in seasonally dry tropical woodlands at elevations of 3,000-4,000 feet, often scattered along rocky arroyos or among grasses. Thriving in full sun to light shade, it requires well-draining soil and is highly drought-tolerant, benefiting from occasional summer watering. Hardy to USDA Zones 9b-11, it tolerates temperatures down to 25-30°F and should be protected from frost in colder regions. With its striking symmetry and minimal maintenance needs, it is commonly used as an accent plant in desert gardens, rock gardens, and modern landscapes, and it performs well in containers for patios and courtyards.
