Cold Climates - Add Heat Pack
For cold climates with upcoming sub-32-degree temperatures within five days of your order, we strongly advise adding a heat pack. Orders without a heat pack will not include one.
To prevent plants from freezing while in transit, orders placed for areas with severe freezing temperatures will be held for shipment until it is safe to ship.
Aloe Cryptopoda features elongated, olive-green leaves that can reach up to 18 inches long. This plant is renowned for its striking, tricolored winter blossoms, which appeal to various forms of wildlife including hummingbirds, butterflies, and bees. Its narrow, grayish green leaves are adorned with reddish-brown, pointed teeth along the edges, arranged in a rosette atop a short, hidden stem. During winter, the plant produces vibrant orange-red flowers that are enticing to nectar-seeking birds. When stressed, the leaves of Aloe Cryptopoda may turn yellow. As it grows, the plant will form colonies through offsets and is commonly used in succulent gardens and xeriscape landscapes. This versatile species is suitable for dry borders, rock gardens, and can even thrive in well-draining containers. Native to southern Africa, Aloe Cryptopoda can be found throughout the region and is highly drought-resistant, requiring minimal watering in the summer.
