Aloe Cryptopoda has long, olive-green leaves that grow to about 18 inches in length. This plant is known for its stunning, tricolored flowers that appear in winter and attract wildlife such as hummingbirds, butterflies, and bees. The leaves of Aloe Cryptopoda are narrow and grayish green with reddish-brown, small and pointed teeth along the margins. They are arranged in a rosette on top of a very short, hidden stem.
In winter, Aloe Cryptopoda produces bright orange-red flowers that are attractive to nectar-loving birds. The leaves of the plant will turn yellow when it is stressed. Over time, Aloe Cryptopoda will form colonies from offsets and is commonly used in succulent gardens and xeriscape plantings.
Aloe Cryptopoda is a versatile plant that can be used in dry borders and rock gardens, and it also does well in pots as long as the soil drains well. This plant is native to southern Africa and has a wide distribution in the region. It is very drought tolerant and only needs light summer irrigation.
Aloe Cryptopoda is a low-maintenance plant and does not require any special care.
