Aloe dhufarensis, commonly known as Dhofar Aloe, is a succulent perennial native to Dhofar, southern Oman, valued for its medicinal properties and traditional uses. It forms solitary, stemless rosettes with pale blue-grey to nearly white leaves arranged spirally, growing up to 1.5 meters tall. During April to June, it produces striking tall spikes of coral-red to yellow flowers in lax racemes. Found in dry watercourses and gravel banks in poor alkaline soils, this species is surprisingly cold-hardy, enduring temperatures down to 20°F (Zone 9a). Aloe dhufarensis thrives in full sun, hot temperatures, and well-drained soil, requiring minimal irrigation and preferring dry conditions in winter, making it suitable for xeriscaping. Apart from its ornamental value, it has traditional medicinal uses, attracting wildlife like hummingbirds. It was first described by John Lavranos in 1967, with the specific epithet "dhufarensis" referring to its habitat in the Dhofar Province.
