Aloe elegans ‘Yellow’ – Yellow Flower Form
A refined Ethiopian aloe admired for its silvery foliage and luminous winter bloom. Aloe elegans ‘Yellow’ forms upright, open rosettes 18–24 in. tall with bluish-gray to silver-green leaves edged in fine reddish teeth. In late winter, 2–4 branched stalks rise above the rosette, each capped with dense, conical heads of pale-yellow tubular flowers that draw hummingbirds, bees, and butterflies.

This yellow-flowered clone originates from northern Ethiopia and Eritrea, where the species grows on rocky slopes at 5,200–8,200 ft. The cultivar was introduced to California in 2009 by the Institute for Aloe Studies (IAS 09-40) and later propagated by San Marcos Growers.

Growth & Care
Thrives in full coastal sun or light inland shade with well-drained, sandy or rocky soil. Requires little water—occasional deep irrigation during extended dry periods keeps it vigorous. Hardy to about 25–30 °F (–4 to –1 °C). Remove spent stalks after flowering and avoid excess moisture in winter.

Landscape Use
Ideal for dry borders, fire-wise plantings, and rock gardens where its cool leaf color contrasts beautifully with orange-red aloes or ornamental grasses. Also excels in large containers with sharp drainage.
