Aloe eminens "Koko Crater" is a tree aloe native to Somalia, Africa, known for its striking appearance. It features an erect trunk with irregular branches and upright slender stems holding rosettes of narrow, slightly recurved leaves. This evergreen succulent can reach heights of 10-16 feet and widths of 6-8 feet, with leaves around 18 inches long. During late fall and winter, it produces deep rose-colored flowers arranged in tight racemes on 1-foot-tall branched inflorescences. Endemic to Somalia, it grows on rocky limestone slopes and forested ravines in the northern Al Madu Mountains near Erigavo, thriving in full sun and well-drained soil. Once established, it requires minimal irrigation and is hardy down to 30-32°F, making it suitable for frost-free gardens, particularly in California. This tree aloe is prized for its ornamental value and attracts wildlife such as birds due to its flowers, making it a desirable addition to frost-free gardens and a sought-after plant for collectors of tree aloes.
