Aloe ferox “White Flowered Form” is a tall South African aloe that forms a single trunk topped by a wide rosette of blue-green leaves, typically reaching 6–9 feet in height and 3–5 feet across. The thick, fleshy leaves measure 2–3 feet long and carry reddish marginal spines, with older dried leaves often forming a persistent skirt along the trunk. This color form differs from the usual orange or red flowering Aloe ferox by producing white blooms in late fall to mid-winter. Its inflorescence consists of a tall, upright, many-branched panicle with dense flower heads, and the nectar-rich blossoms attract birds. The species ranges widely across the Cape region of South Africa, and this white-flowered variant is a horticultural selection maintained through propagation of parent plants sourced from the Institute of Aloe Studies. In cultivation it prefers full sun, well-drained soil, and infrequent irrigation, though occasional watering improves foliage condition and bloom performance. Adapted to Mediterranean and semi-arid climates, it is tolerant of drought and generally hardy to about 20–25°F, though open flowers are more sensitive to frost. In gardens it is used as a bold specimen in dry landscapes and large succulent plantings, offering strong structure, seasonal bloom interest, and educational relevance due to its connection with the medicinal Aloe ferox complex.
