For cold climates with upcoming sub-32-degree temperatures within five days of your order, we strongly advise adding a heat pack. Orders without a heat pack will not include one.
To prevent plants from freezing while in transit, orders placed for areas with severe freezing temperatures will be held for shipment until it is safe to ship.
Aloe mudenensis, native to sandy soils in northern South Africa and Swaziland, is a striking species of short-stemmed aloes. It forms rosettes of bluish leaves with whitish markings, growing to a diameter of 1 to 2 feet. The leaves, straight and broad, develop purplish tinges in sunny spots and feature scattered spots, especially on the upper surface. Its branched inflorescence, reaching up to 1 meter tall, bears dense, conical racemes of orange to red flowers, blooming from winter to spring. Positioning Aloe mudenensis in full sun with good drainage is essential, with regular irrigation needed in dry weather but avoiding excessive water to prevent rot. Propagation via seeds is easy, and the plant thrives in warm temperate climates, though protection from frost is necessary. This evergreen aloe is versatile, serving as an accent plant, container plant, or border plant, making it ideal for small gardens.
