Aloe nobilis, a smaller clumping aloe reaching about 18 inches tall, features fleshy green leaves that form rosettes up to 5-6 inches wide by suckering profusely. Known as the 'Gold Tooth Aloe,' it boasts large green leaves adorned with white or golden teeth along the margins, which can turn orange when exposed to full sun. The leaves are lanceolate and taper to a point at the apex, sometimes developing a rose color on the tips. Notably, it produces offsets prolifically, forming large colonies. Its bright orange branched inflorescences rise above the foliage to about 2 feet tall in mid-summer, attracting hummingbirds. While its exact parentage remains debated, it is widely cultivated and appreciated for its stunning appearance and resilience. Aloe nobilis thrives in bright, filtered light, requiring porous soil with good drainage and protection from frost. It spreads relatively quickly, making it suitable for ground cover or as a feature plant in various garden settings, including rock, cactus, and succulent gardens. Additionally, it's deer resistant and attractive to pollinators, making it a versatile choice for outdoor landscaping or container gardening.
