A medium-sized hybrid distinguished by its luminous tangerine-orange blooms and elegant, twisting leaves. Selected from open-pollinated Aloe sabaea seed grown at Jeff Chemnick’s Aloes in Wonderland, this hybrid captures the refined, arching habit of its Yemeni parent while offering denser, more vividly colored inflorescences. Mature clumps reach 3–4 ft tall and 4–6 ft wide, forming multiple short stems topped with narrow, gracefully recurved foliage.
In spring, well-branched flower spikes rise above the rosettes, carrying masses of deep orange blossoms that draw hummingbirds and other pollinators. Leaves are medium green with pale marginal teeth, often showing subtle twists that add movement and texture year-round.
Thrives in full sun and fast-draining soil with only occasional deep watering once established. Hardy to about 25–30 °F (–3 to –1 °C). Suitable for USDA Zones 9b–11. Minimal maintenance—simply remove spent blooms or older leaves to keep its form tidy.
An excellent choice for coastal or inland Mediterranean landscapes, Aloe ‘Yemeni Orange’ serves as a vivid focal point in xeric plantings, rock gardens, and large containers where its sculptural habit and glowing color can take center stage.
