cereus forbesii monstrose - 6in

Cereus forbesii monstrose is a slow-growing cactus known for its irregular, sculptural growth and blue-green stems. Rather than developing the tall, orderly columns of the typical species, it produces thick, club-shaped stems with rounded knobs, folds and contorted growth points that create a dense, highly individual form. Small woolly areoles and occasional short spines are scattered across the stems. The plant remains relatively compact, making it well suited to container culture and succulent collections. Grow it in bright light and sharply drained cactus soil, protecting it from intense afternoon sun until acclimated. Allow the soil to dry completely between thorough waterings and reduce irrigation during cool winter weather. It is frost tender and should be protected from freezing temperatures. Its blue-green color and irregular growth make it a distinctive specimen for containers, cactus gardens and succulent displays.
